Diverse by Design and Committed to Educational Equity
Ross Valley Charter is diverse by design. Since our founding, we have intentionally cultivated a school community that reflects a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. We believe that early and sustained exposure to diversity is vital to the quality of both academic and social-emotional learning. For students to fully engage, they must feel seen, included, and valued. That sense of belonging is central to their development as curious, confident learners.
Our teachers and staff take purposeful steps to build understanding across differences and foster inclusive classrooms. We want every student to feel appreciated and free to express who they are. Concepts of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are not treated as standalone lessons—they’re thoughtfully integrated into the curriculum in ways that are age-appropriate and relevant at each grade level. Through this approach, students learn to connect with others, think critically, and grow into compassionate members of their communities.

Learning in a diverse environment helps students develop essential life skills. By engaging with a range of perspectives, students learn to understand, respect, and appreciate differences while deepening their own sense of identity.
Equity
We work to ensure that every student has access to the tools and support they need to thrive. That means providing differentiated resources that meet students where they are and help them reach their full potential.
Inclusion
We are committed to creating a learning environment where inclusiveness is second nature—where students of all races, genders, neurotypes, and identities are recognized and valued as integral members of the school community.
Academic Success and Equity
Our commitment to diversity and equity in education in Marin County is reflected not only in our values, but in the outcomes we see each year.
While standardized tests are not the focus of our program, they offer important insights into student learning and growth. On recent state assessments:
45% of RVC’s low-income students scored at or above grade level in English, math, and science.
On the California Science Test (CAST), 55% of low-income students met or exceeded expectations.
Among students with disabilities, 59% scored at or above grade level, with a minimal achievement gap.
These results support our belief that when students are engaged in meaningful, inclusive, and well-supported learning environments, they thrive—both academically and personally.
